All the latest company and industry news, gardening tips and interesting installations.
We’re not talking about your humble potting shed here. These sheds don’t contain three bags of compost, a deflated paddling pool and a bicycle. These are the sheds of people of vision. These are some of the finalists in Cuprinol’s ‘Shed of the Year’ competition 2017. Be inspired.
Hog Hospital
At just 2m square, this is one of the smallest sheds in the competition. This soricomorph sanitorium is named ‘Pricklebums’ – which will give you a clue as to its inhabitants. Up to 22 hedgehogs can be cared for at any one time.
The Sheep Shed
Equipped with wood-fired oven range and hot tub, you could live quite luxuriously in this shed. The king size bed is installed on a mezzanine level under a window so that guests can gaze at the stars (or listen to the tapping of the rain – depending on the weather) as they fall asleep.
The Mushroom House
The story attached to this one is that a doting father was given £500 by his daughter to build her a house in the shape of a mushroom. The daughter was 12 years old. Nobody seems to be asking where she got the cash. How long was she saving up her pocket money?
Not a Shed
The ABC Cinema is a brick building in which 34 people can watch cinema clips. It has an entrance lobby with a popcorn dispensary. It is clearly not a shed. But that’s okay because it was entered into the ‘not a shed’ category of the Shed of the Year competition.
That’s four of our favourites from amongst the finalists. View them all on the Shed of the Year page of the Cuprinol website.
At Norfolk Prestige Fencing, we hand-build sheds to order. If you are inspired by any of the Shed of the Year sheds, but don’t think that your DIY skills are on a par with your imagination – call in the experts.
